Why we do this
Every registration supports Adaptive Adventures
A national nonprofit expanding access to outdoor recreation for people with physical disabilities.
The Lil' Drifty exists to support Adaptive Adventures. The raccoons, the costumes, the inflatable unicorn: all of it sits on top of that.
Adaptive Adventures runs cycling, paddling, climbing and skiing programs in communities across the country, reaching thousands of people and families every year. Many of their staff and instructors have disabilities themselves, which means participants are taught by people who have solved the same problems they're solving.
We get to spend a weekend on a river because we can. That's the whole reason this event has a beneficiary.
What the money does

Community programs
Creating and sustaining adaptive recreation programs in underserved communities, with training, equipment and ongoing support.
Education & training
Training thousands of people nationwide in disability awareness, adaptive equipment and inclusive program design.
Innovation
Developing new adaptive equipment with engineers, manufacturers and universities to remove real-world barriers.
Mental health & family support
Outdoor programs that build confidence, reduce anxiety and support entire families, including caregivers.
Two of their stories
Adaptive Adventures describe themselves as the only fully mobile adaptive sports program in the country: they bring the program to people rather than asking people to travel to a site. Rachel and Adam are two of the people that reaches.
