Privacy

What we collect

Your email address, if you type it into one of the "Keep me posted" boxes. That's the only thing this website asks you for. It goes to our mailing-list system so we can send you the route, the packing list, and roughly one email a month.

Whatever you put in an email to us. If you write to jerry@lost.travel or partners@lost.travel, we keep the email, the same way anybody keeps their email.

Nothing else. There's no account to create here, no comments, no uploads, and no forms other than the email box.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or rent your details to anybody, including sponsors.
• We don't run advertising pixels, retargeting, or any tracker whose job is to follow you to other websites.
• We don't upload your email address, or anything else that identifies you, to Google.
• Fonts are hosted by us rather than fetched from Google, so loading a page tells Google nothing.
• We don't load YouTube until you press play on a video. Before that, the player is just an image, so YouTube isn't told you were here.

Analytics, and the cookies it sets

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand whether this website is doing its job. It sets cookies in your browser and tells us things like which pages get read, how far down the home page people scroll, which of the videos get played, and how many people press the register button. It is aggregate counting, not surveillance: we see that forty people watched Adam's story, not that you did.

If your browser asks us not to, we don't. The analytics script checks for Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track before it loads anything, and switches itself off if either is set. Turning on "Global Privacy Control" in your browser settings, or using a browser that sends it by default, is enough. You don't have to click anything here or take our word for it.

You can also block it outright with any tracker blocker, and the site works exactly the same. Nothing on it depends on analytics loading.

Who else is involved

Four companies touch data connected to this event, and it's fair for you to know which.

• Vercel hosts the website. Like any web host they process standard server request data, such as IP addresses, in order to serve pages and block abuse.
• Google provides the analytics described above, and receives the page views and the handful of events listed there. They do not receive your email address or your name, because we never send them.
• GoHighLevel stores our mailing list. Your email address lives there once you subscribe.
• Wayward handles registration, waivers and payment. When you click "Grab a spot" you leave this site and go to them, and anything you enter there is covered by their privacy policy, not this one. We never see your card details.

How long we keep things

We keep your email address until you ask us to remove it, or until it becomes clear you'd rather we didn't have it. There's an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email we send.

Getting your data removed

Email jerry@lost.travel and ask. You don't need a reason and you don't need to be polite about it. We'll delete what we have and confirm when it's done. If you're in a place with data-protection rights such as the UK, EU or California, this is also how you exercise them. Ask us, and a person will handle it.

Children

This event is for adults and this site isn't aimed at children. We don't knowingly collect details from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we start doing something different with data, we'll change this page and update the date at the top. We're not going to quietly start doing something else and leave this here.
